CCRF is the only statewide coalition in California dealing specifically with reproductive and sexual health issues. Although CCRF itself does not take policy positions or conduct direct lobbying activities, we have been instrumental in defending and promoting reproductive rights by mobilizing the collective power of our members. The coalition's collaborative work is guided by our Strategic Framework and by an annual member priorities survey, which identifies areas of shared interest for policy advocacy and issue education.

CCRF members have always defined "reproductive health and rights" in the broadest possible sense, as evidenced by our work on a wide range of policy issues, including contraceptive equity, prenatal care for undocumented immigrants, public funding for abortion services, comprehensive sex education in schools and communities, and many others. CCRF's history of successful advocacy spans more than 30 years -- see a detailed list of our past work here.

On occasion, CCRF also undertakes special projects that reflect our collective goals. For example, our shared commitment to adolescent health led CCRF to develop a social marketing campaign aimed at facilitating communication between parents and teens on issues of sex and relationships. The coalition has also developed a new framework for understanding and talking about reproductive rights as women's human rights. Finally, each year, CCRF puts on a joint advocacy event, Reproductive Freedom Day, to educate, train and mobilize our member organizations and their constituents on timely reproductive health and justice issues.
