UCSF Analyst with Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program

This position will assist with the evaluation of the Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) program sponsored by the California Department of Public Health’s Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health (MCAH) program. TPP supports 45 grantees to implement diverse programs to reduce the incidence of teen pregnancy in California. The Analyst II will assist with data collection including surveys and interviews; conduct focus groups; help to design and test survey instruments; and prepare findings for reports, articles, and presentations. The Analyst will provide technical support to participating agencies to properly administer evaluation activities. The position is responsible for submitting and maintaining all materials necessary for human subject approval (IRB) and compliance; managing all meeting logistics and materials for an external advisory group and internal workgroup(s). This includes preparing meeting materials, minutes, presentations, and reports. In addition, the analyst will maintain an electronic and physical library of all key documents and reference materials related to best practices in the field. The analyst may need to travel throughout the State on occasion for meetings and/or to conduct interviews or collect data and perform other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications: BA/BS with a major in public health, public policy or related field and two years of experience in program evaluation or operations research, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; knowledge of and experience with adolescent health, reproductive health, and/or health issues facing underserved communities; experienced with Word processing and Spreadsheets; ability to travel occasionally to sites throughout California; knowledge of social science research and evaluation design and methods (qualitative and quantitative); excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; experience writing and communicating scientific findings to a variety of audiences.

Preferred qualifications

Master’s degree in public health, public policy or related field, or equivalent years of education and experience; familiarity with EndNote and desktop publishing, as well as with GIS or other mapping software; prior experience with CA Department of Public Health or other government health agency; ability to speak and write in Spanish; conducting interviews and/or focus groups skills.
